The FUTURE Vision of
Bear Creek Equestrian Center

In the same fashion that American culture in the 1800’s and early 1900’s revolved around the horse, the cowboy and agriculture, the same is true at Bear Creek Ranch.  The Equestrian Center will be the pivot point for all the programs conducted at the ranch.

The Equestrian Center (EC) will be divided into several missions:

HORSE INTERACTION

  1. To provide recreational trail riding for guests at the hotel and confrence center, Operation Freedom, the Spiritual Warfare Center and Rodeo Camp.
  2. To provide experiential learning reinforcement for the participants in Rodeo Camp with western and English riding and harness driving challenges.
  3. To offer participants in Rodeo Camp some of the discipline and experience of “farm chores”.

AGRICULTURE AND AQUACULTURE

The participants in Rodeo camp will be able to assist in daily chores in the maintenance of the farm which will consist of apx. 11,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse to allow for year-round vegetable and fruit production and apx. 11,000 of outdoor gardening space.  In addition there will be future development of apx. 11,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse designated for aquaculture (fish production).

The EC will also maintain a small number of additional animals such as chickens, goats, pigs, cows and bees.  The goal of the farming project is to maintain and produce food in as “green” a manner as possible by using organic and biorational growing and pest management practices.

COMMUNITY INTERACTION

The EC will offer limited horse boarding and riding instruction to the surrounding community.  As well, the EC could be made available to the community for local  horse and farming events.s

The Equestrian Center looks forward to being and integral part of “Ordinary people in and ordinary place doing an extraordinary thing.”
